Softball Recap: Aledo Continues Home Dominance on Tuesday

Aledo put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Azle Hornets a 16-0 shutout. The Bearcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matches by six runs or more this season.

TAYLOR MCKEAN made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over four innings pitched. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single hit, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in February. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, KYLEIGH PAWLAK and MARINA TAVERAS did most of the damage at the plate: PAWLAK went 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs, while TAVERAS scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. Those five RBI gave PAWLAK a new career-high. DELANEY ROSSER was another key player, scoring three runs while going 1-for-2.

Aledo hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in three consecutive games.

Aledo pushed their record up to 17-3 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.1 runs over those games. As for Azle, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-9-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Aledo will face off against Brewer at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Aledo will need to watch out since Brewer has now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests. As for Azle, they will take on Chisholm Trail at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Chisholm Trail will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
