Basketball Recap: Lovett Takes a Loss

Lovett was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 44-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Carver Panthers. The Lions were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Panthers earlier this season, when they won 49-46.

When it comes to explaining why Lovett lost, don't look at Ella Turner. Despite the final result, she posted 19 points.

Lovett's loss dropped their record down to 15-10. As for Carver, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-11.

Coming up, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Lions challenge the Panthers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. That match will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Azil Hazzard and Riley Gallagher. As for Carver, they will square off against Holy Innocents Episcopal at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Holy Innocents Episcopal knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Carver likes a good challenge.
