Softball Recap: Irvine Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Irvine came into Tuesday's matchup having lost seven straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against the El Toro Chargers by a score of 7-3 on Tuesday. The Vaqueros' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Bella Rosser looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits.

On the hitting side, Irvine let Katie Liu and Reese Villanueva run wild. Liu scored a run while going 2-for-4, while Villanueva scored a run while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Liu a new career-high in doubles (two). Evelyn Shen also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Irvine's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-6. As for El Toro, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Coming up, Irvine will head out to square off against Trabuco Hills at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing is sure in Trabuco Hills' favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Irvine has been banged up by eight consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season. As for El Toro, they will take on St. Joseph in a tournament on Thursday.
