Softball Recap: Richwoods Snaps Five-Game Streak of Losses at Home

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Normal Community, Richwoods was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Peoria Heights Patriots a 23-0 shutout. With that win, the Knights brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.

Cici Robinson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Robinson was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, three runs, and four RBI.

In other batting news, Richwoods got a massive performance out of Paige Sarraf, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave Sarraf a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sophie Gorell, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3.

Richwoods was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .682. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Richwoods' victory ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-7. As for Peoria Heights, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coming up, Richwoods will venture away from home to square off against Tri-Valley on Thursday. The Vikings' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so the Knights' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Peoria Heights, they will host Delavan at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
