Softball Recap: Liberty Christian Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Win

Liberty Christian entered their tilt with Nolan Catholic on Friday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They blew past the Vikings 11-1. This was payback for the Warriors, who suffered a 12-2 loss the last time these two teams met.

Sydney Griffin was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). What's more, she gave up only one walk, the fewest she's had since back in February of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Avery Combest was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one triple. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sloane McCown, who scored a run and stole a base while going 4-for-4.

Liberty Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .613. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Liberty Christian pushed their record up to 7-3-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Nolan Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-9-1.

Liberty Christian will have a chance to go back-to-back against Nolan Catholic: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
