Basketball Recap: Josh Dyson and Christian Mcfall Secure Win for West Johnston

West Johnston won the last time they faced Smithfield-Selma and things went their way on Monday too. The West Johnston Wildcats strolled past the Smithfield-Selma Spartans with points to spare, taking the game 66-50.

West Johnston was led to victory by Christian McFall and Josh Dyson. McFall went 5-for-6 on his way to 13 points and six assists, while Dyson went 6-for-11 to rack up 16 points. McFall continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Julian Geddie, who posted nine points and five rebounds.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: West Johnston was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Smithfield-Selma only posted nine assists.

Several Spartans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Johnavon Cox, who went 6-for-10 en route to 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jimmy Raiford, who put up eight points and five boards.

West Johnston's victory bumped their record up to 7-14. As for Smithfield-Selma, they dropped their record down to 2-17 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight at home.

West Johnston didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 68-48 loss against Fike on the 12th. As for Smithfield-Selma, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 70-36 defeat against C.B. Aycock on the 11th.
