Softball Recap: Manawa's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Manawa entered their tilt with Bonduel on Thursday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Bears. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Wolves also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2024.

Olivia Zielke spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on one hit and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Lily Krenke was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.

Manawa hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bonduel struck out nine times.

Manawa's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.1 runs over those games. As for Bonduel, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 5-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Manawa will venture away from home to square off against Assumption at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Royals' pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so the Wolves' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Bonduel, they are taking a road trip to challenge Stratford at 4:45 p.m. on Friday.
