Softball Recap: Badger Beats Grand Valley for Their Third Straight Victory

Badger waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 9-6 win over the Grand Valley Mustangs. That's more bragging rights for the Braves, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Samantha Bradbury made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off 11 hits. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.4 strikeouts per game. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. That stolen base was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Badger got a big performance out of Skylar Demarco, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI and two doubles. Those four RBI gave Demarco a new career-high. Riley Thomas also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Badger kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive games.

Badger's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-5. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Grand Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Badger will square off against Lordstown at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Braves are facing the Red Devils at the right time seeing as the Red Devils are stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for Grand Valley, they will take on Pymatuning Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Mustangs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lakers have averaged an impressive 12 runs per game this season.
