Baseball Recap: Chesapeake Takes a Loss

Chesapeake had lost three straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 2-10-1 to make it four. They came up short against the Portsmouth Trojans, falling 15-0. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Panthers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

As for Portsmouth, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games.

For Portsmouth's part, Landon Malone looked comfortable as he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Malone has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Trevin Brooks was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in May of 2024. Colin Perry was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chesapeake will welcome Tolsia at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Portsmouth, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Fairland at 5:30 p.m.
