North Posey hasn't had much luck against Evansville North recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Vikings will venture away from home to face off against the Huskies at 5:00 p.m. North Posey is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.6 runs per game this season.
On Saturday, North Posey was able to grind out a solid victory over Perry Central, taking the game 12-9. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Vikings.
Dylan Murphy was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Murphy was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kade Buecher, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Brayden Compton also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Evansville North beat Terre Haute South Vigo 5-2 on Saturday. That's two games straight that the Huskies have won by exactly three runs.
Evansville North's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was AJ Baggett, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.
Evansville North is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for North Posey, their record is now 4-1.
Evansville North's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: North Posey hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .360. It's a different story for Evansville North, though, as they've only averaged .182. Will they be able to contain North Posey's hitters?
North Posey came up short against Evansville North when the teams last played back in May of 2024, falling 11-6. Can the Vikings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
