Soccer Game Preview: Camas vs. Columbia River

The Camas Papermakers will take on the Columbia River Rapids at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Camas barely beat Ridgefield the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Papermakers' defense stepped up to hand the Spudders a 3-0 shutout on Saturday. Camas have beaten Ridgefield the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest Ridgefield has come to flipping the script.

Meanwhile, Columbia River had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.7 goals) and they went ahead and made it seven last Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 6-0 margin over the Panthers. Columbia River might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by three goals or more this season.

Columbia River pushed their record up to 7-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 35 goals over those five games. As for Camas, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2-2.

Camas came up short against Columbia River in their previous matchup back in March of 2019, falling 2-0. Can the Papermakers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
