Softball Recap: Crystal River Extends Home Winning Streak to Ten

Crystal River had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They walked away with a 3-0 win over the Palatka Panthers on Wednesday. Winning may never get old, but the Pirates sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

The result came thanks to Violet Flynn's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 25 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Athena Childs, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one triple.

Crystal River's victory was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-5. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.1 runs over those games. As for Palatka, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-12.

Crystal River didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 1-0 victory against The Villages Charter on the 13th. Palatka does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
