Volleyball Recap: Portsmouth West Takes a Loss

Portsmouth West extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to five on Saturday, dropping them down to 0-2. They came up short against the Unioto Shermans, falling 3-0. The Senators were not able to make up for their defeat to the Shermans from their previous meeting back in August of 2024.

Portsmouth West's offense was headlined by Adison Stephens and Macey Whisman, who picked up six kills apiece. They got some help from Brayleigh Pistole and her 17 assists.

As for Unioto, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-1. That looming 3-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for them yet this season.

Unioto was led to victory by Alyssa Stanley and Kinzli Batson. Stanley had 14 digs and two aces, while Batson had six aces and five digs. Stanley is crushing it when it comes to digs: she's had at least 14 every time she's taken the court this season.

Looking ahead, Portsmouth West will face off against Eastern at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Unioto, they will challenge Adena at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup will give the Shermans their first taste of in-conference action this season.
