Baseball Recap: Borden Gets the Win

Borden proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by ten) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Lanesville Eagles 3-2. The victory continues a trend for the Braves in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won eight in a row.

Zander Keith made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Keith wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brady Peine, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base. Those two hits gave Peine a new career-high.

Borden's record now sits at 13-6. As for Lanesville, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 8-10.

Coming up, Borden will venture away from home to take on South Central at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Lanesville, they will welcome Providence at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Pioneers will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight.
