Basketball Preview: Legend Titans vs. Castle View Sabercats
Legend has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Castle View Sabercats at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Legend knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven games -- so hopefully the Sabercats like a good challenge.
Legend stacked a 15th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Douglas County 78-33 at home. Given Legend's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked third, while the Huskies are ranked 89th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Legend's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Maley Wilhelm, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and five steals, and Katie Lamb, who scored 23 points along with five rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lamb has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Borcherding, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Castle View's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight defeat. They took a hard 39-25 fall against ThunderRidge. Castle View has struggled against the Grizzlies recently, as their match on Thursday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Legend pushed their record up to 18-1 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Castle View, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season.
Legend strolled past the Sabercats in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 by a score of 43-25. The rematch might be a little tougher for Legend since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
