Softball Game Preview: Foran Lions vs. East Haven Yellowjackets

Foran is on an eight-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while East Haven is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Lions will host the Yellowjackets at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

Foran will bounce into Tuesday's match after beating North Haven, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Lions blew past the Nighthawks 9-1 on Monday. Considering the Lions have won five games by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Abigail Corris spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Ariella Diorio was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. She also put up a run, which was her first of the season. Nyla Jaser was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Foran kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits every time they've taken the field this season.

While East Haven didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-11), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They put the hurt on Branford with a sharp 9-2 win on Monday.

East Haven's victory bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Foran, their win bumped their record up to 6-0.
