Basketball Game Preview: Fort Zumwalt South Bulldogs vs. Jersey Panthers

The Fort Zumwalt South Bulldogs will be taking part in a tournament against the Jersey Panthers at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday. Both are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Having struggled with seven losses in a row dating back to last season, Fort Zumwalt South turned things around against Washington last Friday. They breezed by the Bluejays to the tune of 60-32. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Bulldogs have posted against the Bluejays since January 21, 2020.

Meanwhile, everything went Jersey's way against Lutheran North on Friday as Jersey made off with a 58-35 win. The Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 21 points or more this season.

Jersey's win came from a few key players Fort Zumwalt South will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Meredith Gray, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ella Smith, who went 5 of 11 on her way to 15 points and three steals.

Jersey pushed their record up to 9-5 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.8 points per game. As for Fort Zumwalt South, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Fort Zumwalt South couldn't quite finish off Jersey in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 and fell 52-50.
