Basketball Recap: Ashe County Falls to Alexander Central in First Game of Season + How To Watch

Ashe County kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They fell 88-76 to the Alexander Central Cougars. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it five in a row.

Noah VanBeurden was nothing short of spectacular for Alexander Central: he posted 25 points along with five assists and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Koa Mikeal, who earned 13 points in addition to seven assists and five rebounds.

Ashe County will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Hibriten at 8:00 p.m. on the 24th. As for Alexander Central, they will head out on the road to face off against East Burke at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
