Mountain Valley recap October 29, 2013
Biggs added to the longest winning streak in Mountain Valley this week by beating University Prep, 49-0. The victory was the eighth in a row for the Wolverines.
Los Molinos lost to Chester 61-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
The Panthers' dynamic duo of Bradley Cervania and Wes Hartmann proved tough for Biggs to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Cervania threw for 31 yards and Hartmann had 16 yards receiving. Tristan Brittain helped University Prep's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 15 yards.
Wesaly Hedrick provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Volcanoes bested the Bulldogs.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Chester's Hunter Morris and David Estacio have proven to be a lethal combination. 5-11 quarterback Morris has thrown for 717 yards this season, while Estacio has 13 catches for 324 yards. NATHAN CALLAWAY from Ron Carr's team leads the league in rushing with 949 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Biggs takes on second place Maxwell. Last week, the Wolverines bested University Prep, while Maxwell topped Portola.
Biggs' CALLAWAY needs only 51 yards against the Panthers next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 111 carries CALLAWAY has put up 949 yards this year.
Maxwell made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 8,202 from 8,395. The improvement was largely due to a 23-7 victory over the Tigers last week.
