Basketball Recap: Pike County Takes a Loss

Pike County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 49-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Opp Bobcats. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bobcats apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Leading Opp to victory were DJ Hines and Damirian Thompson. Hines dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten boards, while Thompson went 5 for 10 on his way to 16 points. With that strong performance, Hines is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game.

Pike County's loss dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Opp, their victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 9-10.

Pike County will be playing in front of their home fans against New Brockton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Opp, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Opp Bobcats face off against the Straughn Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
