Baseball Recap: Paramount Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Norwalk, Paramount was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They never let the Firebaugh Falcons get on the board and left with a 4-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now won seven in a row.

Israel Hernandez looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Luis Banuelos, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Paramount is undefeated when Banuelos posts two or more runs, but 6-7 otherwise. David Serrano was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Paramount's win bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Firebaugh, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-5.

Looking ahead, Paramount will be playing at home against Oxford Academy at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Firebaugh will be paying especially close attention to the Pirates' match: after the Pirates faces off against Mary Star of the Sea, they'll take on Firebaugh again at 3:15 p.m. on Friday.
