Softball Recap: Pioneer Mustangs vs. Silver Creek Raiders
After flying high against Gunderson last Monday, Pioneer came back down to earth. The Pioneer Mustangs lost 16-6 to the Silver Creek Raiders on Friday. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Raiders apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.
Cara Goodrich was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Leilah Ortiz also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Goodrich wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Pioneer kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive contests.
Pioneer's defeat was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Silver Creek, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-1.
