Basketball Recap: Woodburn Takes a Loss

Woodburn's tournament run continued when they took on Churchill on Friday. The Woodburn Bulldogs fell just short of the Churchill Lancers by a score of 63-61. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Churchill was led to victory by Jace Litten and Ty Read. Litten posted 16 points and five rebounds, while Read dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds. Read is also crushing it when it comes to blocks: he's posted at least three every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Ryan Gutierrez, who had seven points.

Woodburn's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Churchill, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Woodburn will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Ridgeview at 6:30 p.m. on December 30th. As for Churchill, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Sherwood at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Sherwood knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matchups -- so hopefully Churchill likes a good challenge.
