Baseball Game Preview: Pekin Panthers vs. Highland Huskies

The Pekin Panthers will take on the Highland Huskies at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Pekin is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 11 runs on Friday, they were much more limited against Notre Dame on Monday. They wound up with the same score they had in their last game (11-1), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time.

Meanwhile, Highland had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.6 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Falcons. While the Huskies didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Highland pushed their record up to 6-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Pekin, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-4.
