Basketball Recap: Phelps Picks Up Ninth Consecutive Win

Phelps had won eight straight games and Caleigh McCoy did her part to make it nine on Friday. The Phelps Hornets put the hurt on the South Greene Rebels with a sharp 65-42 victory thanks in part to McCoy, who made all 7 shots she took to post 20 points and five rebounds. The matchup was her tenth in a row with at least ten points.

Kylea Weddington was another key player, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down ten or more in the last six games she's played.

Phelps pushed their record up to 9-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 24.8 points. As for South Greene, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Phelps and Washburn will face off at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Washburn is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.6 points per game this season. As for South Greene, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Grainger at 6:30 p.m. on January 9, 2025.
