Baseball Recap: Lincoln Victorious

Lincoln took a nine-run defeat the last time they faced off against Monroe, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Railsplitters won by a run and slipped past the Trojans 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Railsplitters have posted since May 18, 2024.

Michael Stone was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. He has become a key player for Lincoln: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-10 otherwise. Stone was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Lincoln's victory bumped their record up to 4-11. As for Monroe, their loss dropped their record down to 2-10.

Lincoln will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Trojans: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
