Basketball Game Preview: Merrimack Tomahawks vs. Nashua South Purple Panthers

The Merrimack Tomahawks will take on the Nashua South Purple Panthers on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Tuesday, Merrimack came up short against Nashua North and fell 64-55. The Tomahawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Nashua South had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 75-40 win over the Crimson Tide. The match marked the Purple Panthers' most dominant victory of the season.

Nashua South's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-4. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.7 points over those games. As for Merrimack, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-14.

Things could have been worse for Merrimack, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 68-54 loss to Nashua South in their previous matchup back in January. Can Merrimack avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
