Recap: Churubusco Eagles vs. Fort Wayne Bishop Luers Knights
The Churubusco Eagles''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They fell 41-30 to Fort Wayne Bishop Luers. While losing is never fun, Churubusco can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana football rankings (they are ranked 246th, while Fort Wayne Bishop Luers is ranked 107th).
Churubusco's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Angelo Ianucilli, who rushed for 89 yards and a touchdown. Bryce Lawrence also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Fort Wayne Bishop Luers got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Giovanny Jimenez out in front who rushed for 65 yards and three touchdowns. Mickey Daring was another key contributor, rushing for 113 yards and a touchdown.
Churubusco's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Fort Wayne Bishop Luers, their win bumped their record up to 8-3.
Churubusco does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Fort Wayne Bishop Luers will look to defend their home field on Friday against Eastside at 7:00 p.m. Eastside is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
