Softball Recap: Valley Central Vikings vs. Newburgh Free Academy Goldbacks
Valley Central took care of business in their home opener on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Newburgh Free Academy Goldbacks by a score of 7-2. That's more bragging rights for Valley Central, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
Bella Mayo looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched.
At the plate, Audrey Conklin was excellent, going 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Eleanor O'Neill, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Valley Central didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 2-0 victory vs. Wallkill on the 27th. As for Newburgh Free Academy, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Goshen Central at 4:00 p.m. Newburgh Free Academy will come in still looking for their first win of the season.
