Basketball Recap: Norton Takes a Loss

Norton was the 54-50 winner over Coventry when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Norton Panthers lost 65-44 to the Coventry Comets on Friday. The Panthers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-16.

Coventry's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Alex Meinen, who went 9-for-16 on his way to 24 points and four steals. That's the most steals Meinen has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kameryn Kennerly, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and 11 boards.

Norton has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season. As for Coventry, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season.

Norton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Coventry, they are taking a road trip to take on Marlington at 7:00 p.m. on February 21st. Coventry is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.4 points per game this season.
