Volleyball Recap: Marana Takes a Loss

Marana lost against Rincon/University last Thursday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Tigers fell 3-1 to the Rangers. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Marana started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 22-25, 25-22, 26-24, 25-19.

Leading Rincon/University to victory were Nic Sanchez and Trevor Peyton. Sanchez had 13 digs and eight assists, while Peyton had 18 digs and three assists. Those 18 digs gave Peyton a new career-high. Xander Lauretta also deserves some recognition as he served his first ace of the season.

Marana's loss dropped their record down to 13-13. As for Rincon/University, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 22-7.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Marana will take on rival Sunnyside at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Rincon/University is set to square off against their familiar foe Tucson High Magnet School at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
