Softball Game Preview: St. Patrick-St. Vincent Bruins vs. Pinole Valley Spartans

The St. Patrick-St. Vincent Bruins will head out on the road to face off against the Pinole Valley Spartans at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. St. Patrick-St. Vincent is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak dating back to last season.

St. Patrick-St. Vincent came up short against De Anza on Tuesday, falling 23-4.

St. Patrick-St. Vincent saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Daisha Connors, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Pinole Valley has relied on a stalwart pitcher averaging four runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Monday. They fell 10-7 to Acalanes. The Spartans' defeat signaled the end of their undefeated season.

Ayla Serrano was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Serrano is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Avery Phillips, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

St. Patrick-St. Vincent's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Pinole Valley, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.

St. Patrick-St. Vincent took their victory against Pinole Valley in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 15-4. Does St. Patrick-St. Vincent have another victory up their sleeve, or will Pinole Valley turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
