Baseball Recap: Shawano Community Triumphs

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Shawano Community ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They walked away with a 4-1 win over the New London Bulldogs. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 6-2 win back in April.

Grant Keszo looked comfortable as he tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Shawano Community is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 6-7 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Alex Zierden, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Dane Hodkiewicz, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Shawano Community now has a winning record of 9-8. As for New London, their loss was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-16.

Looking ahead, Shawano Community will venture away from home to take on Fox Valley Lutheran at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Hawks are facing the Foxes at the right time seeing as the Foxes are stuck on a three-game losing streak. New London has already played their next match (against Clintonville), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
