Football Recap: Sumner Stingrays vs. Alonso Ravens
On Friday, the Sumner Stingrays were able to grind out a solid win over the Alonso Ravens, taking the game 27-20. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Stingrays.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sumner to victory, but perhaps none more so than Antonio Balaguer, who threw for 277 yards and three touchdowns while completing 73.9% of his passes. 111 of those passing yards were hauled in by Taesean Robinson, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.
Sumner didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jeremiah Jones and Isaiah Shuler. Shuler also set a new season high mark in total tackles with seven. Another thorn in Alonso's side was Makhi Foster, who picked up a sack and made six total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Sumner now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Alonso, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-4.
