Basketball Game Preview: Waterloo Tigers vs. Newark Reds

The Waterloo Tigers will venture away from home to take on the Newark Reds at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Waterloo's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five matchups.

On Tuesday, Waterloo beat South Seneca 61-51.

Meanwhile, Newark posted their biggest victory since January 30, 2024 on Friday. Everything went their way against Midlakes as Newark made off with a 67-42 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Reds.

Newark's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-8. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.3 points per game. As for Waterloo, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season.

Waterloo was able to grind out a solid win over Newark when the teams last played back in December of 2024, winning 61-52. The rematch might be a little tougher for Waterloo since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
