Softball Recap: South Beloit's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak on the Road

South Beloit dropped their record down to 7-5 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins on the road. They lost 7-1 to the Rochelle Hubs. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Sobos have suffered since March 18th.

South Beloit saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Whitney Schnack, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

As for Rochelle, their victory ended an eight-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-12. They not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 3rd (when they won 17-7).

On Rochelle's side, Lauren Dyer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up seven Ks. Dyer has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Mya Martinez was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 11 games. Another player making a difference was Jaclynn Lira, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Beloit will venture away from home to take on Parkview at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Rochelle, they will head out to square off against St. Bede at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Hubs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bruins have averaged an impressive 8.7 runs per game this season.
