Basketball Recap: Emery Spartans vs. Manti Templars
Even though the Manti Templars scored an imposing 57 points on Wednesday, the Emery Spartans still came out on top. Emery had just enough and edged the Templars out 59-57. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Emery.
Emery's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Luke Justice, who scored 16 points along with five assists. Zack Tuttle was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
When it comes to explaining why Manti lost, one person who can't be blamed is Reggie Frischknecht. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 18 points and 15 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jessen Barton, who scored 11 points.
Emery is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. As for Manti, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Emery will face off against the Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Utah (Canyon View is ranked 44th, while the Spartans are ranked 43rd). As for Manti, they will head out on the road to square off against the Dinos at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
