Basketball Recap: Aiden Roberson Key Part of Team Effort in Mavericks Win

Mallard Creek had lost three straight, but after bumping their record up to 2-3 on Saturday that streak is in the rearview. They snuck past the Lake Norman Wildcats with a 58-52 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Mavericks also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2020.

Mallard Creek's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aiden Roberson, who posted 18 points. Those 18 points gave Roberson a new career-high. Ahmad Savage was another key player, putting up 14 points.

As for Lake Norman, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-4. Those home defeats can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.0 points over those games.

Lake Norman lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Noah Wilson, who had 18 points and seven boards. Another player making a difference was Owen Pfefferkorn, who scored ten points and eight rebounds.

Mallard Creek wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 65-57 loss against McDowell on the 3rd. As for Lake Norman, they will square off against Davidson Day at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Wildcats will be up against the Patriots' rather soft defense (which has allowed 58.44 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
