Rancho Bernardo was the 4-3 winner over Carlsbad when they last played one another on Thursday, but their luck changed this time around. The Broncos fell just short of the Lancers by a score of 2-1 on Saturday. The Broncos' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Brayden Kotera was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits.

At the plate, Rancho Bernardo saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hugo Gonzalez, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Rancho Bernardo's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 14-3. As for Carlsbad, their record now sits at 7-10.
