Recap: Oberlin Tigers vs. Sam Houston Broncos
The Oberlin Tigers were the 58-51 winner over the Sam Houston Broncos when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The New Year welcomed Oberlin with a 105-26 whooping from Sam Houston on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Oberlin can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 376th, while Sam Houston is ranked 131st).
Sam Houston's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Carter Malveaux, who scored 15 points along with five steals. Those 15 points set a new season-high mark for him. Blaine Davey was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with three steals.
Oberlin are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-18. As for Sam Houston, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-8.
Oberlin will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Lake Arthur at 6:00 p.m. on January 4th. As for Sam Houston, they will be playing at home against LaGrange at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. LaGrange is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
