St. Charles North had to kick off their season on the road on Wednesday, but they showed no ill effects. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the West Chicago Wildcats an 8-0 shutout. Winning may never get old, but the North Stars sure are getting used to it with their 11th in a row dating back to last season.

Not much got past Paige Murray, who gave up just two hits and racked up 13 Ks to keep West Chicago off the board.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Anna Abruzzo, who went 3-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Mackenzie Patterson, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.

Abruzzo wasn't the only one working in the hit department: St. Charles North kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Chicago only managed two hits.

West Chicago now has a losing record of 2-3.

St. Charles North will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Bartlett at 4:30 p.m. on April 9. As for West Chicago, they will face off against Barrington at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
