Volleyball Recap: Hunter Extends Home Winning Streak to Five

Hunter had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Kearns Cougars. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-2 back in March.

The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 25-15, 21-25, 25-18.

Mervyn Vera was the offensive standout of the matchup as he had 16 digs and two aces. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in assists (five). Tyce Randall-Umi also deserves some recognition as he had his first block of the season.

They weren't the only good server: Hunter was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 11 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.

Hunter pushed their record up to 9-9 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Kearns, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.

Hunter has already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against West Jordan on the 22nd. As for Kearns, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 2-0 defeat against Mountain Crest on the 18th.
