Softball Recap: David Crockett Comes Up Short

David Crockett fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Gibbs on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 2-1 to the Eagles, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Pioneers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Madelyn Dulaney spent all 8.1 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, David Crockett saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lacey Whitaker, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run.

David Crockett's defeat dropped their record down to 22-10-1. As for Gibbs, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 22 of their last 23 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 37-3 record this season.

As of now, neither David Crockett nor Gibbs have any future games scheduled.
