The Warren Hills Regional Blue Streaks will challenge the West Morris Mendham Minutemen at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
Last Friday, Warren Hills Regional and West Morris Central were almost perfectly matched up, but Warren Hills Regional suffered a 28-27 loss. While losing is never fun, the Blue Streaks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey football rankings (they are ranked 99th, while the Wolfpack are ranked 30th).
Warren Hills Regional might have lost, but man, Cohl Stevens was a machine: he rushed for 148 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries, and also threw for 125 yards and one TD.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask West Morris Mendham). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Dover 51-12. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Minutemen considering their eight-point performance the game before.
Warren Hills Regional better keep an eye on Thomas Guido. He was instrumental in West Morris Mendham's win, rushing for 133 yards and three scores on only five carries. Guido really tore up the turf during one magnificent 80-yard run. The team also got some help courtesy of Rocco Racioppi, who rushed for 54 yards on only five carries.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: West Morris Mendham was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 212 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dover only rushed for 19.
West Morris Mendham didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Blake Kotarski and Racioppi. Racioppi got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
West Morris Mendham's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 9.8 points on average over those games. As for Warren Hills Regional, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.
Warren Hills Regional couldn't quite get it done against West Morris Mendham in their previous matchup back in September of 2024 as they fell 24-13.
