Baseball Recap: Lake Region's Winning Streak Snapped at Eight Games

It was a good run, but Lake Region unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of the Lakeland Dreadnaughts by a score of 8-7. The Thunder were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Dreadnaughts earlier this season, when they won 11-4.

Gage Calcutt was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He has become a key player for Lake Region: the team is 6-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 7-8 otherwise.

Lake Region's defeat dropped their record down to 13-10. As for Lakeland, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 14-11.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Lake Region will venture away from home to take on Lake Wales at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lakeland, they will take on Bartow at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Dreadnaughts are facing the Yellow Jackets at the right time seeing as the Yellow Jackets are stuck on a ten-game losing streak.
