Preview: Hammond Academy of Science & Tech Hawks vs. DeMotte Christian Knights
Hammond Academy of Science & Tech is 1-7 against DeMotte Christian since February of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Hammond Academy of Science & Tech Hawks will be home for the holidays to greet the DeMotte Christian Knights at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Two weeks ago, things could have been worse for Hammond Academy of Science & Tech, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 67-50 loss to Highland.
The losing side was boosted by Jermaine Bartlett, who scored 33 points along with five rebounds and three steals. He scored a full 66% of Hammond Academy of Science & Tech's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rordrick Quinn, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought matchup, but DeMotte Christian had to settle for a 46-43 defeat against North Newton on Saturday. DeMotte Christian has not had much luck with North Newton recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Hammond Academy of Science & Tech has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season. As for DeMotte Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.
Hammond Academy of Science & Tech was taken down by DeMotte Christian 71-33 in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. Thankfully for Hammond Academy of Science & Tech, Jacob Miller (who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time.
