Baseball Game Preview: Halstead Dragons vs. Sylvan-Lucas Mustangs

The Halstead Dragons will venture away from home to challenge the Sylvan-Lucas Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Halstead fell victim to Hoisington and their airtight pitching crew two weeks ago. They lost 10-0 to the Cardinals. The shutout was out of character for the Dragons seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in March.

Halstead saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Noah Diehl, who went 1-for-2 with one double. That double marked the first that Diehl has hit this season.

Ellinwood hit Sylvan-Lucas with a seven-run fifth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Mustangs came up short against the Eagles, falling 12-2. The Mustangs just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

Sylvan-Lucas' loss dropped their record down to 5-15. As for Halstead, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-17 record this season.
