Football Recap: Salado Eagles vs. Troy Trojans
Salado had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They strolled past the Troy Trojans with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 59-42. For the Eagles, this counts as revenge for the 52-28 win the Trojans walked away with the last time they faced one another back in August of 2024.
Gabe Merriman had an outrageously good game as he picked up 180 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Luke Bingham also helped out as he racked up 151 rushing yards.

Salado was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 317 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2024.
Troy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cohen Ketcham, who picked up 264 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. Ketcham's longest reception was for an incredible 78 yards. Jayden Lucky was another key player, rushing for 135 yards and two scores.
Coming up, Salado will venture away from home to square off against Lampasas at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Troy, they will welcome Hillsboro at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 1,007 yards in their previous games.
