Liberty faced Centennial in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Patriots sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 win over the Bulldogs. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Patriots have posted since March 19th.

Cayden Rogers-Ramirez tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over 4.1 innings pitched.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Chris Onoszko, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Austin Rodriguez, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

The win snapped Liberty's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 14-8 record. As for Centennial, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 15-8.

Coincidentally, Liberty and Centennial will both be playing Birmingham the next time they take the field. The Patriots will host the Patriots at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, while the Bulldogs will host them at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
