Volleyball Recap: Belleville East Makes It 19 in a Row on the Road

Belleville East had already won three in a row and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Edwardsville Tigers. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 2-0 back in April.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Belleville East who won the one that mattered. The final score came out to 25-21, 21-25, 25-19.

Jackson Byers paced Belleville East's offense, picking up 11 kills. Byers got some help from Keegan Rose and his 37 assists. Finally, Byers was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high two blocks.

Edwardsville's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nicholas Paschall, who had 18 assists and five digs. Another player making a difference was Lucas Marsh, who had 18 assists.

Belleville East's victory was their 19th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 24-7. As for Edwardsville, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 22-12.

Belleville East does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Edwardsville, they will venture away from home to square off against O'Fallon at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
